Deutsche Bank Eyes Late-2026 Launch for Institutional Bitcoin Custody in Europe
Deutsche Bank is planning to launch an institutional Bitcoin and Ether custody service in Europe. The service will initially support three stablecoins or e-money tokens: USDC, EURC, and EURAU.
The bank's Corporate Bank and Investment Bank will serve corporates, asset managers, hedge funds, custodians, brokers, and sovereign institutions. Retail customers are not part of the target audience.
The service is expected to go live in late 2026, pending regulatory approval from BaFin. Deutsche Bank applied for a digital-asset custody license with BaFin in 2023 and partnered with Swiss infrastructure provider Taurus in September of that year.
