Ethereum Glamsterdam Upgrade Delayed to Q3 2026 Amid 200M Gas Limit Target
The Ethereum Foundation has pushed back the launch date of its 'Glamsterdam' protocol upgrade to Q3 2026, citing a new 200M gas limit target. The upgrade was originally set for June but will now arrive in the third quarter of next year.
Glamsterdam is designed to scale Ethereum's layer-1 chain by reorganizing transaction processing and database management at a fundamental level. Devnets for the upgrade are already live, according to the Foundation.
The stabilization of enshrined Proposer-Builder Separation (ePBS) has also been confirmed, which integrates block-building separation directly into Ethereum's protocol rules. This change reduces reliance on external relays and gives the network more time to process larger blocks safely.
