Ethereum Leads the Race to $1 Trillion Crypto Market Cap
Bitcoin remains the only cryptocurrency with a market cap exceeding $1 trillion, but three major contenders, Ethereum, XRP, and Solana, are vying to join this elite group. Currently, Ethereum sits at $333 billion, XRP at $96 billion, and Solana at $71 billion. To reach a $1 trillion market cap, Ethereum needs to triple in value, XRP must increase nearly tenfold, and Solana must grow fourteen times its current worth.
Market cap, calculated by multiplying a coin’s price by its circulating supply, provides a clearer picture than price alone. Ethereum would need to hit about $8,190 per coin, XRP around $16, and Solana approximately $1,700. However, each coin faces unique challenges, such as Ethereum’s continuous issuance of new coins and XRP’s potential supply releases from Ripple’s escrow.
Ethereum, currently trading around $2,724, is seen as the most likely candidate to reach a $1 trillion market cap due to its foundational role in financial transactions. XRP, trading at about $1.52, faces significant supply pressure from Ripple’s escrow releases. Solana, valued at around $121, needs to reach $1,700, nearly six times its previous record. Despite these hurdles, the race to the $1 trillion mark remains highly competitive.
