Ethereum Stablecoin Volume Surges to Record $2.82T in October
The crypto market experienced a slowdown in October, causing traders to seek out stablecoins as a way to manage liquidity and generate yield. The Ethereum network saw a record-breaking $2.82 trillion in monthly transaction volume for stablecoins, with Circle's USDC leading the pack at $1.62 trillion.
USDT recorded $895.5 billion in volume last month, while MakerDAO's DAI ranked third at $136 billion, down from September's $141.2 billion. Stablecoin issuers accounted for approximately 65% to 70% of total daily revenue across major protocol categories throughout October.
According to research associate Min Jung of Presto Research, stablecoins have become one of the hottest sectors following the Circle IPO and passage of the GENIUS Act. Nick Ruck, director at LVRG Research, noted that the record figures suggest continued institutional and retail adoption of dollar-pegged digital assets for various financial applications.
Traders are using stablecoins as both a hedge and a yield-generating tool until deployment, with many staging capital to rotate between emerging narratives. The growth in stablecoin activity underscores a maturing crypto market where non-speculative use cases like payments and cross-border transactions are on the rise.
