Ethereum's Range Bound Breakout

Ethereum's recent price action has been largely bullish, with a 41% rally in August that saw its monthly low and high at $1,820 and $2,567, respectively. However, this momentum has stalled in recent weeks, and the cryptocurrency is currently trading within a range between $2,380 and $2,530.

The range formation on the 4-hour chart highlights the key swing level of $2,466 from April, which marked a lower high in the long-term downtrend from last October. This raises concerns that ETH may be facing distribution at this critical level.

Despite these concerns, indicators suggest that buyers still have the upper hand in the market. The 3-month taker CVD measured an increase in aggressive buying volume in August, and the current Spot taker CVD reflects taker-buy-dominant conditions, indicating notable buying pressure.

The derivatives markets also show a significant uptick in buying pressure, with the taker buy/sell ratio climbing to 1.11. Readings above 1 indicate that aggressive (taker) buy orders outweigh sellers and signal buyer dominance.
