Ethereum's Vitalik Buterin Doubles Down on Privacy Efforts
Ethereum's co-founder Vitalik Buterin has reiterated his commitment to strengthening the network's privacy efforts, stating he will 'double down' on this goal. He emphasized that this is a crucial aspect of Ethereum's development, aligning with earlier discussions about the platform's direction.
Buterin outlined four key properties that Ethereum should preserve: censorship resistance, open source, privacy, and security, which he grouped under the acronym 'CROPS'. He urged the Ethereum Foundation to focus resources on these areas. The technical work on privacy involves private reads, writes, and proving, addressing the information currently visible through public addresses, balances, and transaction records.
The proposal for a Layer 2 review examines how networks are competing for users and developers. Buterin suggests that specialization could be key to sustaining these networks, as some have managed to develop larger niches, such as specialized trading liquidity or infrastructure for particular applications.
