Fairshake super PAC backs 32 House candidates with $6 million in midterm push
Crypto super PAC Fairshake has launched a major push ahead of the November midterm elections, committing $6 million to support 32 House candidates. The initial funding covers six lawmakers, with $1 million each allocated to Republican Reps. French Hill, Bill Huizenga, and Bryan Steil, as well as Democratic Reps. Janelle Bynum, Steven Horsford, and Derek Tran. Fairshake has framed its support as bipartisan, backing candidates who align with the crypto industry’s priorities, including the Digital Asset Market CLARITY Act, which stalled in the Senate last month.
The PAC’s network, which includes Protect Progress and Defend American Jobs, holds over $108 million in cash and boasts a 93% win rate in the 2026 cycle. However, it has faced setbacks, including defeats in Florida and Illinois, where it spent millions to oppose candidates viewed as crypto critics. Fairshake’s broader spending plans remain unclear, as it has not disclosed individual allocations for the remaining 26 candidates.
The failure of the CLARITY Act in the Senate has made the midterms critical for crypto policy. The bill, which aimed to establish a framework for digital-asset markets, received 49 votes in favor and 50 against, falling short of the 60 votes needed to advance. With control of Congress at stake, Fairshake and other crypto industry groups are intensifying their political spending to influence the next phase of U.S. crypto regulation.
Fairshake’s strategy has allowed it to support candidates from both parties, with Protect Progress backing Democrats and Defend American Jobs focusing on Republicans. The group has already prepared at least $30 million to oppose former Sen. Sherrod Brown in Ohio, a prominent crypto critic. As the elections approach, the industry’s growing political influence will be tested in competitive general-election races.
