Fiserv's Digital Asset Platform Launches on Solana with Roughrider Coin
Fiserv has launched its digital asset platform on Solana, marking an important milestone for the company's expansion into the crypto space. The platform allows over 90 banks and credit unions in North Dakota to access Roughrider Coin, a stablecoin issued by VersaBank USA and managed by Bank of North Dakota.
The launch comes after Fiserv first announced its plans to build a digital asset platform in June 2025, with the goal of supporting faster bank-to-bank settlement and future payment uses. The platform uses Solana's blockchain technology to process transactions, while Fireblocks provides secured wallets and tokenization infrastructure for institutions.
Roughrider Coin is designed exclusively for bank-to-bank transactions among North Dakota community banks and credit unions, and is not available to the public or individual investors. Each token is backed one-to-one by U.S. dollars, with VersaBank USA handling minting, burning, custody, and reserve asset management.
