Share

A disturbing incident of kidnapping and extortion has shaken a French family in Vendin-le-Vieil, Pas-de-Calais. Four masked men broke into the home around 4:00 a.m. Sunday, detaining the father, his partner, and their two children.

The suspects isolated the father and demanded his cryptocurrencies, eventually compelling him to transfer approximately €40,000 worth of cryptocurrency. The family was held hostage for over three hours before the attackers fled with the stolen funds.

According to reports, the 12-year-old daughter was allegedly beaten during the ordeal, struck in the face with car keys. However, there are no indications of life-threatening injuries.

The authorities have launched an investigation into kidnapping and extortion by an organized group, with the French anti-cybercrime office assisting in the case. The police are working to identify the suspects and recover any transferred funds.
