Gunzilla's Off the Grid Battle Royale Shatters Gaming Records
Gunzilla Games' free-to-play cyberpunk battle royale, Off the Grid, has taken the gaming world by storm since its early access launch on the Epic Games Store. The game, set in a futuristic city, features blockchain-powered item ownership through the GUNZ Layer 1 network, developed by Gunzilla as a subnet of Avalanche. Players compete in a televised combat event, with 60 hours of story content and cinematic sequences, according to Decrypt.
Gunzilla raised $30 million in a funding round co-led by CoinFund and Avalanche's Blizzard Fund, with a $10 million strategic token sale, equity, and validator sales. The studio partnered with the Bored Ape Yacht Club to release branded skins, emotes, and weapon cosmetics, signaling its intent to bridge Web3 communities into mainstream gaming audiences.
The GUN token, launched on Binance in March 2025, has a total supply of 10 billion, with 604.5 million circulating at debut. Gunzilla allocated 30% of monthly revenue towards GUN token buybacks, tying buy pressure directly to commercial performance. The token serves four functions within the ecosystem: payment currency, gas token, staking rewards, and governance rights.
