IBM Links Digital Banking Stack to SWIFT Blockchain Ledger

IBM has announced an expansion of its digital banking stack, linking it directly to SWIFT's blockchain-based shared ledger. This move is designed to provide financial institutions with a practical solution for tokenized deposit transactions.

The new ISO 20022 Messaging Adapter will allow banks to instruct tokenized deposit moves using familiar message formats and existing compliance processes. This means that staff won't need to be forced onto pure blockchain workflows, which could be a barrier to adoption.

IBM's Digital Asset Haven platform is also moving into an on-premises beta, giving clients more control over deployment. Banks that want digital-asset capability without sacrificing control will appreciate this option.
