K-pop is entering the crypto space through a partnership between Sony-backed Soneium and DayOneDream, an entertainment company that manages K-pop artists. The two companies will explore bringing K-pop intellectual property (IP) and entertainment revenue onchain using WAVIST, a platform developed by DayOneDream.

The partnership builds on a previous success in May when WAVIST issued a tokenized IP bond to finance K-pop IP and carried it through to final redemption and burning entirely onchain. This milestone demonstrates that real-world entertainment assets can move through an end-to-end onchain framework, showcasing the potential of blockchain technology in the industry.

The partnership aims to give fans and investors new access to K-pop IP while providing creators with new tools to raise capital. Soneium's Head of Protocol, Yuji Kumagai, stated that entertainment IP is one of the clearest opportunities for bringing real-world value onchain, highlighting the potential of this collaboration.
