Kakao Pay and KakaoBank Partner with Fireblocks on Stablecoin Opportunities

Share

Kakao Pay and KakaoBank are joining forces with Fireblocks to explore stablecoin opportunities in South Korea. The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Fireblocks, aiming to establish secure onchain infrastructure for the country's emerging digital asset market.

Under the agreement, the trio will conduct proof-of-concept tests for digital asset infrastructure tailored to South Korea's regulatory, security, and service requirements. This initiative is part of the broader efforts to help establish a stablecoin ecosystem in the country.

The collaboration follows a separate MoU signed by Kakao Group and Circle in July, where they explored blockchain-based payment infrastructure and digital asset technology. Specifically, they examined opportunities around won-denominated stablecoins and related services.
