KakaoPay Joins Forces with Dinari and Ondo to Tokenize Korean Stocks
KakaoPay Securities has partnered with Dinari and Ondo Finance to explore tokenized distribution of Korean-listed stocks to international investors. The collaboration is part of South Korea's efforts to implement a regulatory framework for tokenized securities, which is scheduled to take effect in February 2027.
Dinari will run a proof of concept using its dShares model, which preserves shareholder rights such as dividends and voting. The company currently offers tokenized US stocks and ETFs through its dShares offering.
Ondo's framework focuses on building a workable structure for sourcing and custodying Korean-listed shares, with tokenization viewed as a potential next step. Kakaopay would operate a foreign investor omnibus account to hold and administer the underlying shares.
