KRW1 Stablecoin Takes Step Toward Global Payments

The KRW1 stablecoin is expanding its use cases after partnering with Rain to connect it to Visa's network. This move could allow users to spend their won-denominated digital asset at over 175 million merchant locations worldwide.

Rain will provide the payment infrastructure for this initiative, while BDACS remains responsible for KRW1 issuance and custody. The partnership aims to make purchases possible without converting KRW1 into another stablecoin.

KRW1 launched on Avalanche in September 2025 and is fully backed by Korean won held at Woori Bank. Banking API integration supports reserve verification, ensuring the stability of the asset.
