Linea Exits Yield Boost Validators After MetaMask Security Incident
Linea, a Ethereum layer-2 (L2) network developed by Consensys, has exited validators supporting its Yield Boost vault due to a security incident at MetaMask Staking. The move was taken as a precaution, and the network assured that the vault's funds and control remain unaffected.
The incident at MetaMask Staking forced the exit of validators, triggering a precautionary exit for Linea's Yield Boost validators. Yield Boost relies on external Lido-v3 validators, and the compromised MetaMask nodes disrupted reward flow without affecting vault control.
Linea said that the impact is a temporary reduction in the net staking rewards that fund its ecosystem incentives while validators exit and are replaced. The network is monitoring the situation closely.
The security incident at MetaMask Staking was first disclosed on September 30, and the company said it was responding to a security incident affecting part of its infrastructure. MetaMask said it had identified no immediate threat to MetaMask wallets and was exiting affected validators within its non-custodial staking operations.
