MicroStrategy Reports $21 Billion Bitcoin Gains in Q3
MicroStrategy reported a substantial $21 billion gain in digital asset value during the third quarter, driven by its significant Bitcoin holdings. The company now holds a record 848,000 Bitcoins and has continued its dual strategy of share buybacks and increased Bitcoin acquisitions, spending $176 million on share repurchases during the same period.
Meanwhile, Strive has completed its largest Bitcoin purchase since June, acquiring 2,000 BTC for $169 million. This brings Strive's total holdings to 29,462 coins, narrowing the gap with MARA but still trailing behind Metaplanet, which recently overtook it.
On the regulatory front, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission is moving ahead with its own set of crypto market-structure rules following the failure of Congress to advance the CLARITY Act. CFTC Chairman Michael Selig emphasized that this is just the beginning of regulatory efforts in the crypto space.
Longtime crypto skeptic Peter Schiff claimed that MicroStrategy can no longer fund its Bitcoin purchases, citing funding issues. This comes as Bitcoin's price showed a slight uptick, gaining 0.35% to $85,720.13, marking its highest level since September 22, 2026, when it traded at $86,224.77.
