Galaxy Digital CEO Mike Novogratz predicts Bitcoin (BTC) has a stronger chance of reaching $100,000 than falling to $50,000 by the end of 2026. He identified $79,000 to $80,000 as a critical support level, warning that a breakdown below this range could weaken the current bullish momentum. Novogratz highlighted Bitcoin’s recovery from $60,000 to above $80,000 as a sign of renewed investor interest, driven in part by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s comments about Treasury buybacks.
The resurgence in Bitcoin’s narrative as a hedge against currency debasement has attracted institutional investors, including sovereign wealth funds, and reignited demand for Bitcoin exchange-traded funds. For individual investors, Novogratz recommends allocating 10%, 15% of net worth to cryptocurrencies, with Bitcoin making up roughly two-thirds of his own crypto holdings. His other core cryptocurrency investments include Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and Hyperliquid (HYPE).
Novogratz cautioned against excessive leverage, describing 50x, 100x leverage on volatile cryptocurrencies as extremely dangerous. He believes the crypto industry is shifting from speculation toward real-world utility, making sustainable business models essential. He cited Hyperliquid’s trading activity and token buybacks as evidence that platforms with genuine usage can attract capital. The era of routine 10x crypto returns is fading, with greater upside potential now seen in private AI companies and infrastructure.
On regulation, Novogratz blamed political divisions for the failure of the Clarity Act but hopes that SEC and CFTC rulemaking will provide greater clarity. He also warned that AI could become the "biggest bubble of our lifetime," surpassing the internet and crypto in economic significance. He expects the AI rally to continue for several years, with a 20%, 25% Nasdaq decline followed by a failed recovery potentially signaling a market peak.
