Anthony Scaramucci, founder of Skybridge Capital, shared a cautionary tale about the dangers of letting ego and pride influence decision-making. Speaking to journalist Katie Curic on Sept. 24, Scaramucci reflected on a major mistake from his past: campaigning for President Donald Trump in 2016 and later joining the White House as Communications Director.
Scaramucci recalled holding a negative opinion of Steve Bannon, then the White House chief strategist, and sharing that view with Trump. Despite his mentor’s advice against joining the administration, Scaramucci accepted the role but was fired after just 11 days following a controversial interview where he criticized Bannon.
‘You can’t put your pride and your ego into your decision-making,’ Scaramucci said, emphasizing the importance of keeping ego in check in both personal and business relationships. The 62-year-old hedge fund manager has since authored books on crypto, including Solana Rising: Investing in the Fast Lane of Crypto and The Little Book of Bitcoin.
Before launching SkyBridge Capital in 2005, Scaramucci co-founded Oscar Capital Management, which was sold to Neuberger Berman in 2001. Early in his career, he was fired from Goldman Sachs but later rehired. His net worth is estimated at $150 million, with over 70% invested in Bitcoin.
