OpenZeppelin and T-REX Network Bolster Security for Regulated Tokenized Securities
OpenZeppelin and T-REX Network have formed a strategic partnership to improve the infrastructure behind ERC-3643, also known as T-REX, which is used for regulated tokenized securities. The goal is to harden the security of this token standard by integrating eligibility checks, transfer restrictions, and identity verification directly into the token itself.
The collaboration focuses on three areas: security, modularity, and on-chain identity management. OpenZeppelin will contribute architecture advice and code reviews, building on their experience with over $35 trillion in on-chain transfers. The centerpiece is ONCHAINID v3, an identity layer that sits underneath T-REX tokens, which has been audited by OpenZeppelin.
The new version of ONCHAINID reworks the identity layer into a modular ERC-7579 smart account, incorporating features like ERC-4337 account abstraction and additional signers. The audit report for ONCHAINID was published on September 29, 2026.
The broader goal is to create a unified compliance structure called the T-REX Ledger, built using the Polygon CDK development kit. This ledger aims to ensure consistency in eligibility rules as assets move between different networks. The T-REX Ledger is expected to launch on mainnet by Q4 2026.
The framework embeds permissioned transfer logic and jurisdictional eligibility directly into the token contract, preventing transfers if a wallet is not cleared to hold an asset in a given jurisdiction.
