Quantus Launches Quantum-Proof QTC Token on Near Intents
Quantus, a blockchain positioning itself as quantum-proof, launched its native token, QTC, on October 6. The token operates on a proof-of-work (PoW) system with a capped supply of 21 million QTC, mirroring Bitcoin’s structure. However, the initial genesis supply will have 27% of the tokens unlocked, totaling 5.67 million QTC. Of these, 4.83 million will be allocated to investors and the team, while the company retains 4%, or 840,000 QTC. The remaining 73% (15.3 million QTC) will be mined over time.
Quantus CEO Christopher Smith highlighted the significance of debuting on the Near Intents platform, stating, "Near.com advances our industry’s original idea of permissionless markets by enabling users to trade across networks without relying on a centralized exchange." He emphasized that QTC aims to bring post-quantum security to a broader onchain market without compromising its foundational principles. Alex Shevchenko, CEO of Defuse Labs and developer of NEAR Intents, also supported QTC’s vision, noting that the token is live on Near.com from day one and accessible from assets held across different chains.
The team markets QTC as a "post-quantum asset," differentiating it from most existing blockchains, including Bitcoin, which are vulnerable to future quantum computing threats. Quantus integrates privacy by default using zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs, aligning with the growing narratives around privacy and quantum security that have driven assets like Zcash (ZEC) in the past year. This dual focus positions Quantus uniquely in the evolving blockchain landscape.
Near Intents has emerged as a key player in the privacy and quantum security narrative. In September, the platform recorded a record $4.8 billion in DEX volume. This strong traction has attracted attention, with Bitwise launching a U.S. NEAR ETF to offer investors exposure to the network’s privacy, quantum, and AI-driven metas. As more value shifts toward post-quantum assets, NEAR Intents is poised to facilitate this movement, with Shevchenko expressing bullishness on its role in the ecosystem.
