Robinhood Chain Overcomes 40-Minute App Glitch Amid Peak Growth
Rising to its peak growth, Robinhood Chain faced a major outage on September 4. Despite this disruption, the Ethereum layer-2 network continued producing blocks through its roughly 40-minute app glitch. A full-day measurement by Glass Hull found that the chain produced 854,255 blocks across all 1,440 minutes of September 4 UTC.
The longest gap between consecutive recorded block timestamps was two seconds. In contrast to earlier reports stating a halt in block production for at least 14 minutes, analysis revealed separate pauses in posting Robinhood Chain transaction data to Ethereum from 12:29:47 to 12:38:23 UTC and from 12:42:47 to 12:48:11 UTC.
These delays ended before 12:57 UTC and did not interrupt the chain's block production. However, successful transactions through busy apps fell sharply for about 40 minutes. Walnut's analysis found that median busy app traffic completed only one-fifth of its usual successful transactions during this time.
