Solana and Ethereum: Gains and Upgrades Spark Debate
Solana and Ethereum have been on a roll lately, but their recent gains are not without controversy. Solana surged 15.5% last week while Ethereum climbed 10.2%, yet both remain down for the year amid competing upgrade catalysts.
Solana's upcoming Alpenglow upgrade is set to launch on September 28 and promises significant improvements, slashing transaction finality from 12.8 seconds to 150 milliseconds and raising fault tolerance to 40%. This will enhance network reliability and let payment and trading applications treat transfers as nearly instant.
However, Ethereum's next upgrade, Glamsterdam, has faced multiple delays and is now targeted for the fourth quarter. The test run on the Sepolia test network, scheduled for October 6, is a crucial step before the main launch.
Solana funds have been posting strong inflows, taking in new funds for 12 consecutive weeks and holding about 2.6% of all circulating SOL. In contrast, Ethereum has faced challenges, experiencing a $140 million outflow in one week this September.
