Strategy Resumes Bitcoin Buying with 950 BTC Acquisition
MicroStrategy, now known as Strategy, has resumed its Bitcoin buying activity after several weeks without a disclosed purchase. The company acquired an additional 950 BTC between September 14 and September 20 for approximately $75.7 million, paying an average of about $79,670 per Bitcoin.
This move extends the company's strategy of raising capital and directing part of the proceeds toward additional Bitcoin. Strategy has used a combination of equity, debt, and preferred securities to finance its expansion, which has allowed it to build a significant Bitcoin position at a scale few publicly traded companies can match.
The key takeaway from this development is that while absolute holdings are important, they don't necessarily tell the whole story. Strategy's treasury model operates differently from a conventional investor simply purchasing BTC. The company's accumulation strategy is closely tied to capital markets and to the securities it can issue to raise additional funds.
