Strategy's recent Q2 earnings call on July 30 saw a brief surge in its stock price, but it quickly dropped by over 6% to $91.6. The company's holding of 843,775 BTC has yielded a 4.5% return and a gain of 29,997 BTC, or approximately 3.6x growth in Bitcoin per share since 2020.

The average acquisition price was $75,531 per coin, but the unrealized markdown on its Bitcoin holdings stands at an astonishing $8.32 billion, contributing to a reported net loss of $24.45 per share. This has raised concerns among investors about Strategy's capital allocation decisions and how they will impact the company's valuation.

Saylor emphasized that 'Bitcoin-backed borrowing is not currently the preferred path to build USD reserves,' indicating a shift towards greater balance sheet flexibility. The company has been selling Bitcoin, with 3,588 BTC sold for $216 million in recent weeks, roughly 20% below the average purchase price.
