Tech Giants Launch OUSD Stablecoin for Enterprise Payments
Major tech companies have joined forces to launch OUSD, a new US dollar-backed stablecoin designed for enterprise payments and on-chain finance. The stablecoin is issued by Open Standard, a group backed by partners such as Coinbase, Mastercard, Shopify, Stripe, and Visa.
Users can convert USD to OUSD for free, and the network charges small transaction fees instead of minting charges. OUSD shares the profits earned from cash reserves with network partners, encouraging adoption.
The OUSD ecosystem already has several major partners, including Visa, Stripe, and Coinbase. Securitize, a leading platform for bringing real-world assets onto the blockchain, has also joined as a Network Partner.
OUSD operates through four blockchain networks: Ethereum, Solana, Base, and Tempo. Users can access the stablecoin through major platforms like Stripe, the Visa Stablecoin Platform, Mastercard's BVNK, Coinbase, Kraken, and Uniswap.
Securitize's integration of OUSD will allow institutions and investors to use the stablecoin as the currency to buy and sell tokenized investment funds, settle trades, and receive dividend payments on the blockchain.
