Treasure Valley Leaders Sound Alarm on Crypto ATM Scams

Share

Treasure Valley residents have lost over $1 million to cryptocurrency ATM scams so far this year, prompting local leaders to warn about the dangers of these schemes.

The scammers typically call victims claiming there's a warrant for their arrest and demand they deposit cash into a crypto ATM to resolve the issue.

In Meridian, 30 residents lost $1.3 million between January and July 2026, while those in Kuna, Eagle, Star, and unincorporated Ada County have been scammed out of $406,000 through September.

Law enforcement officials are urging people to be cautious and not fall prey to these scams, which often target older residents.
