Treasury's Bond Buyback Boosts Crypto Markets Amid Lower Yields
The Treasury's decision to double bond buybacks has sent shockwaves through financial markets. As a result, yields on 30-year bonds plummeted to 5.187%, a 19-year low.
This decline in yields made zero-coupon assets more attractive, prompting investors to reallocate their funds into precious metals and cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum saw significant gains, with BTC adding $103 billion and Ethereum adding $22 billion in just three hours. Gold and Silver also contributed an additional $1.07 trillion to the market.
The rapid influx of liquidity has caused concerns about a potential crypto market crash to recede. BTC is currently trading at $68,300.55, testing its upper Bollinger resistance at $67,413.53. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is flashing overbought, while the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) has confirmed a golden cross.
The current price action suggests that a measured pullback toward the EMA50 support at $64,238.74 may be probable before the next leg higher for BTC. The Treasury's support is now being factored into Bitcoin's price prediction models, which are anticipating sustained Treasury backing.
