Trump Ties to Strategy Shares Reveal Growing Crypto Exposure
President Donald Trump's investment accounts have acquired shares in Strategy, the world's largest publicly traded corporate holder of Bitcoin. According to an Office of Government Ethics filing released on September 22, the accounts bought between $50,001 and $100,000 worth of Strategy shares on July 27.
The same filing lists smaller Strategy purchases of between $1,001 and $15,000 on July 24 and a sale in the same value range on July 8. The White House has stated that Trump's stock and bond portfolio is independently managed by third-party financial institutions through discretionary accounts.
The significance of the Strategy purchase lies in its connection to Bitcoin. As the largest corporate holder of BTC, Strategy's valuation is closely tied to the direction of the crypto market. Its shares can move more sharply than Bitcoin due to investors pricing the company's bitcoin holdings and debt simultaneously.
