Trump's Investment Accounts Buy MicroStrategy Ahead of 83% Rally
President Donald Trump's investment accounts have been at the center of scrutiny following recent disclosures about their trading activity. According to a federal ethics filing, Trump's accounts purchased shares of MicroStrategy (MSTR), the world's largest corporate Bitcoin holder, in late July.
The purchases were made on July 24 and July 27, with a larger purchase worth between $50,001 and $100,000 taking place on the latter date. By September 22, MSTR had climbed about 83% since the smaller July 24 purchase and roughly 70% based on closing prices for the July 27 trade.
The Trump Organization claims that independent financial institutions manage the accounts and that Trump and his family do not select or direct individual investments. However, this has raised concerns among lawmakers, with Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Rep. Robert Garcia previously raising conflict-of-interest concerns in an August letter.
