Trump's Memecoin Dinner Sparks Criticism Amid $4.7B Losses
US President Donald Trump has announced that he will host his third TRUMP memecoin dinner, scheduled for November 22, 2026. The event is open to the top 185 holders of the TRUMP token, who must have held their tokens between September 30 and November 12 to be eligible.
The dinner follows a report that revealed investors in Trump-linked crypto ventures face $4.7 billion in losses, with $3.2 billion attributed to the TRUMP memecoin. The event also comes weeks after the US Senate failed to advance the CLARITY Act, which aimed to regulate cryptocurrency and prevent public officials from profiting from it.
The TRUMP memecoin has experienced a sharp decline since its launch after Trump's 2025 presidential inauguration. It initially surged to around $70 but fell to $20 before reaching its current price of $2.05. Top 29 holders will receive additional perks, including access to a VIP reception with Trump and priority seating at the dinner.
