Trump's MSTR Stock Buys Coincide with Bitcoin Rally
President Donald Trump's financial disclosure has shed new light on his investment strategy. In July, accounts linked to him bought shares of MSTR, the parent company of MicroStrategy, just before the stock began a sharp recovery. The timing of these purchases stands out because they came when the broader market was near multi-month lows.
The accounts made two smaller purchases in early and mid-July, with the first worth between $1,001 and $15,000. The second purchase on July 27 was much larger, worth between $50,001 and $100,000. Trump's accounts have said that third-party managers handle the stock and bond accounts, but the filing lists him as the beneficiary.
MSTR has since gained about 83% from its June 24 closing price, climbing to a current price of $167.33. This strong recovery has come alongside Bitcoin's move above $86,000, making MSTR attractive to investors seeking exposure to the cryptocurrency without directly holding it.
