Uptober Unleashed: Can Momentum Sustain Stronger Gains for Crypto?
The upcoming month of October has historically been a strong period for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. However, last year's performance may not be repeated this time around.
In 2025, despite starting strong at around $119,000, Bitcoin ended the month down about 4% due to a fresh U.S.-China trade dispute that sparked a risk-off move. The market was also affected by a significant liquidation event on record at the time.
This year, however, October is off to a more bullish start. With Bitcoin already gaining roughly 9% in September and reaching an eight-month high above $87,000 after rising about 25% in August, the market has more momentum going into October than it did last year.
Altcoins such as Solana, XRP, NEAR, LINK, and Zcash have also seen significant gains in September, with Ethereum breaking higher following its August rally. ETF inflows have increased, and short covering and better liquidity are contributing to the transition.
