US Court Orders Fundsz Operators to Pay $31M for Crypto Scam

Share

A US federal court has ordered Fundsz's operators, Brian Early and Alisha Ann Kingrey, to pay $31 million in restitution and penalties for their role in a digital-asset and precious-metals scam.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) filed the complaint against Fundsz in 2023, alleging that the company made false promises of high returns using a proprietary algorithm. The CFTC claimed that clients' funds were never traded as stated and that the returns presented to them were fabricated.

The court discovered that Early and Kingrey committed serious misrepresentation regarding profit expectations, risk levels, and previous investment performance. This echoes warning signs given by the FTC about investment offers that minimize risk while promising unusually high returns.
