US Tokenization Rules Boost UNI and HYPE Amid DeFi Frenzy
Uniswap (UNI) and Hyperliquid's native token HYPE have seen significant gains in recent days, with UNI surging by over 30% and HYPE rising by around 13%. The rally is likely linked to new tokenization rules in the US, which allow for limited trading of tokenized stocks on certain on-chain platforms.
The SEC has granted a conditional Innovation Exemption for five years, covering so-called tokenized securities venues that are not required to register as an 'exchange' under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. This move has been seen as a positive development for decentralized exchanges (DEXs), which have traditionally focused on cryptocurrencies.
According to Blockworks, traditional tokenized assets are highly popular on DEX, with digital stocks, commodities, indices, and forex being among the most traded categories in Hyperliquid's futures market. On Uniswap, tokenized assets surpass meme tokens and staking in terms of overall liquidity.
