Worldcoin Surges 23% in 7 Days, Outpacing Bitcoin's Daily Gains
Worldcoin, a token linked to AI-related activities, has seen a significant surge in price, outpacing Bitcoin's daily gains. According to data from CoinGlass, traders who bet against Worldcoin were hit hard, with around $241,590 in positions being wiped out in the past hour. This figure is roughly 82% higher than the $133,050 in positions closed on Bitcoin.
The token's price has increased by over 7% in the past 24 hours, extending a longer run that has seen it rise by 23% over the past seven days and 61% over the past month. The total value locked on World Chain, the layer-2 network run by the same project, has also climbed 12.28% over 24 hours to $45.12 million, according to DefiLlama data.
The rally comes as the company behind Worldcoin, Tools for Humanity, is linked to OpenAI, the AI company led by CEO Sam Altman, who is also the chairman of Tools for Humanity. The move has been seen as a positive sign for the AI sector, with Worldcoin's price being influenced by the growing interest in AI-related activities.
