XRP Ledger Permission Delegation Delayed Until October 8
XRP Ledger's PermissionDelegationV1_1 amendment is set to go live, but the earliest possible date is October 8, not October 5 as previously reported by some trade outlets.
The amendment, which allows accounts to grant individual rights to other accounts without surrendering their own master key, has been voted on by the network's validators and currently has 29 of the 35 trusted validators in support.
Although the two-week period for the amendment began on September 21, the ledger itself only recorded the necessary majority on September 24, pushing the earliest possible date out to October 8.
This means that anyone planning to transfer XRP on October 5 may encounter issues, as trading venues and custodians often suspend deposits and withdrawals during protocol updates.
PermissionDelegationV1_1 is a protocol extension that will enable accounts to delegate individual rights to other accounts without passing on their master key, with a ceiling of ten powers per delegation entry.
