XRP Ledger's PermissionDelegationV1_1 Amendment Delayed Until October 8
The XRP Ledger's PermissionDelegationV1_1 amendment, which allows accounts to grant individual rights to other accounts without surrendering their master key, cannot go live before October 8, 2026, according to the ledger itself. This is in contrast to reports from several trade outlets, which named October 5 as the activation date.
The discrepancy arises from the fact that the majority of the 35 trusted validators needed to support the amendment did not reach the required threshold until September 24, 2026. As a result, the earliest possible activation date is October 8, 2026, at 21:25 UTC.
For holders of XRP, this is more than just a calendar question. With the activation of this amendment, trading venues and custodians may suspend deposits and withdrawals for a short period, and anyone with the wrong date in mind may schedule a transfer into the very window in which it stalls.
The amendment, which is currently supported by 29 of the 35 trusted validators, will introduce a new transaction type called DelegateSet, which will allow one account to grant individual powers to another account, alter them later, or withdraw them.
