XRP Ledger's PermissionDelegationV1_1 Amendment Enters Final Activation Window
The XRP Ledger's PermissionDelegationV1_1 amendment has cleared its required threshold of 80% validator support and entered its final two-week activation window. This means that the earliest possible go-live date for the feature is October 5, 2026, at 11:18 AM UTC.
However, the validators only need to drop their support to below 80% during this period to reset the clock to zero and cancel the activation. This adds a layer of uncertainty to the process, as it's not guaranteed that the feature will go live on October 5.
The PermissionDelegation feature allows an account holder to assign specific authorities to another account without giving them full control. It's designed to prevent a delegate from escalating their privileges or compromising the issuer account.
Ripple's stablecoin product lead, Lauren Berta, sees this feature as essential for compliance workflows with regulated issuers. The RLUSD team has already begun building and testing the functionality in a development environment.
