XRP Stuck at the Doorstep of $4, Can It Break Through?
XRP, the cryptocurrency behind the Ripple payment network, has a history of coming close to its all-time high price but falling short. The $4 price mark is particularly significant for XRP, as it would imply a market cap of $400 billion if all 100 billion coins were in circulation by 2028. This would put XRP's value above that of Ethereum.
Despite predictions from some analysts that XRP could reach $28 by 2030 or even $100, the cryptocurrency has never broken through the $4 price barrier in its over 14-year history. Last year, XRP made two attempts to hit this mark, stalling out at $3.65 and $3.40, respectively.
The problem may lie with XRP's coin supply, which is currently 63 billion but has a maximum lifetime supply of 100 billion. If all coins were in circulation by 2028, the Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) would imply a market cap of $400 billion at a $4 price.
Some investors are skeptical about XRP's potential to hit this mark, given its current limitations and the fact that it is primarily a bridge currency for payment networks. Others, however, see potential in XRP's upside and believe it has a 12% chance of hitting $4 by the end of this year.
