Zcash Soars Above $1,600 Amid ETF Launches and Public Attention
Zcash's price climbed above $1,600 in September, fueled by renewed public attention and new investment products. The cryptocurrency closed at $1,628.53 on September 22, according to daily pricing in UTC.
This move is not an all-time record for ZEC, which reached a high of $3,191.93 on October 28, 2016. However, the recent surge is significant, given the introduction of new investment products tied to the privacy-focused cryptocurrency.
Grayscale's Zcash ETF began trading on NYSE Arca under the ticker ZCSH on August 25, giving U.S. investors a listed product tied to ZEC. Additionally, 21Shares launched a physically backed Zcash exchange-traded product on Euronext Amsterdam and Euronext Paris on September 21.
Zcash's co-founder Matt Huang described the cryptocurrency as 'a private complement to Bitcoin' during a recent public appearance. The NU7 upgrade proposal aims to reduce target block spacing from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, although no activation date has been confirmed in the proposal.
