Asian Markets Rise as Bond Yields Ease Ahead of US Inflation Data
Asian markets traded mostly higher on Wednesday as global bond yields eased and oil prices held steady. The U.S. 30-year Treasury yield dropped to around 5.55% in Asian trading after reaching its highest level since 2002.
China's blue-chip CSI 300 and the Shanghai Composite each gained 0.5%, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng added 0.3%. In contrast, South Korea's KOSPI slipped 0.4%.
The market attention now focuses on the U.S. PCE price index for August, which is scheduled to be released later on Wednesday. The data could shape expectations for the Federal Reserve's interest-rate path and determine whether the recent easing in yields can persist.
