Bitcoin Faces Five Macro Tests as Fed Rate Path Hangs in Balance
Bitcoin is trading near $84,800 as it faces five major macroeconomic tests this week. The Federal Reserve's rate path is in limbo, with inflation, growth, factory activity, and labor market data set to influence its decision.
The dense calendar of US and Japanese economic releases includes the Bank of Japan's minutes from its July policy meeting on Monday, followed by a series of key domestic indicators. On Wednesday, the Bureau of Economic Analysis will release August personal income and outlays, including the Personal Consumption Expenditures price index, which is the Fed's preferred inflation gauge.
A hotter-than-expected inflation print would strengthen the case for holding rates higher for longer, weighing on risk assets like Bitcoin. In contrast, a softer inflation reading could reduce the perceived need for further tightening and give Bitcoin room to rally.
