BOE Warns AI Valuations Face Sharper Correction
The Bank of England (BOE) has warned that valuations in artificial intelligence could see a 'sharper correction' than experienced in July. This warning comes as part of the BOE's quarterly financial stability report, which notes that interconnected vulnerabilities in the financial system are rising.
The multi-trillion dollar AI market is identified as one of the key contributors to these risks, along with the potential re-escalation of the conflict in the Middle East. This could lead to a 'more protracted negative supply shock' to the global economy and higher sovereign bond risks.
Since July, AI stocks have swung wildly amid fears of a possible slowdown in development. Equities have also become more volatile across the board, with some companies delaying their initial public offerings.
