Cuba Informal Market Sees US Dollar Rise Amid Euro Stability
The informal currency market in Cuba has closed for Tuesday, September 8, 2026. The US dollar is up by two Cuban pesos (CUP) to 685 CUP, with a buy price of 680 CUP and a sell price of 690 CUP. This marks an increase of 2 pesos compared to the previous trading day, when it closed at 683 CUP. In the past week, the dollar has risen by 7.5 pesos from 678 CUP recorded seven days ago, equivalent to a 1.1% increase.
The euro remains unchanged from yesterday, trading at 778 CUP with a buying price of 775 CUP and a selling price of 780 CUP. It has increased by 10 pesos compared to the 768 CUP of seven days ago, an increase of 1.3%. The euro is confirmed as the most expensive currency in the Cuban parallel market, exceeding the dollar by 93 pesos.
The MLC closes with an indicative average value of 462 CUP, with a buying price of 448 CUP and a selling price of 475 CUP. However, this figure should be taken with caution due to low trading volume, making it merely indicative.
