Dollar Index Slumps Below 102.00 After Disappointing Payrolls Report
The US Dollar Index (DXY) declined below 102.00 after a disappointing payrolls report showed just 29,000 new jobs were added in the latest month.
In the moments leading up to the release, the index had briefly reached its day's high of just above 102.10, but promptly dropped to 101.80 once the numbers came out.
A short-lived bounce stalled at around 102.00, the level it broke through on Thursday, before a second leg lower pushed the index down to just under 101.70.
