ECB Bolsters Euro with Expanded Currency Safety Nets
The European Central Bank (ECB) is planning to expand its currency safety nets in an effort to boost the euro's global standing, according to ECB President Christine Lagarde. The move comes amid concerns over financial fragmentation and uncertainty surrounding the future of the US dollar under President Donald Trump.
Lagarde stated that the ECB will work on establishing swap lines, which provide emergency liquidity for foreign central banks by allowing them to borrow euros in exchange for their own currency.
