Economic Data Releases and FedSpeak Fill Upcoming Week
The upcoming week is packed with key economic data releases and FedSpeak events. On Friday, the September employment report will be released, which is expected to show a payroll figure close to 100,000, following August's rise of 162,000. The unemployment rate remains at 4.1%, according to Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh.
Earlier in the week, on Wednesday, the third estimate of Q2 GDP will be released, along with BEA's annual revisions. This follows the second estimate of 1.5% saar and a GDP price index increase of 6.4%. The Atlanta Fed's GDPNow model estimated Q3 growth at 5.0%, led by an 18.5% jump in business equipment spending.
ISM's M-PMI for September is also expected to show another strong reading, following S&P Global's flash M-PI of 57.0 and a composite of 58.4, the strongest since July 2021. Input costs across goods and services rose at the fastest pace since October 2022.
Micron reports its fiscal Q4 results on Wednesday, with analysts expecting revenue of $50.8 billion, up from $11.3 billion a year ago, and EPS at $31.45, within management's guidance range.
