Fed Staffer Caught Trying to Remove Sensitive Files Before Retirement
A US Federal Reserve staff member was flagged for attempting to remove confidential information before retirement in July 2024, but no formal misconduct finding was made.
The Fed's Inspector General (IG) reported that the employee, who worked in the Division of International Finance, tried to copy sensitive files on multiple occasions between 2021 and 2024.
The IG stated that despite 'potential severity', an investigation found no clear indication of what information was removed and many alerts were false positives.
