Japanese Yen Holds Firm Against USD After Trump's Intervention Comments
The Japanese Yen's value remained steady against the US Dollar, holding its ground near 157.50 after last Friday's drop to 159.00 due to President Trump's concerns about the currency's weakness.
Finance Minister Katayama reported that Trump expressed his difficulties with trade caused by a weak yen during a meeting in New York, and that joint intervention with the US has not been ruled out.
The Bank of Japan (BoJ) raised its policy rate to 1.25% on September 18, but Tokyo's core inflation forecast for September stands at 2.4%, exceeding the BoJ's target.
